Race: The Movie: The Play is a slapstick spoof of all of the recent race-based Oscar-bait movies.

No white savior flick is safe in this screwball comedy one reviewer called “Mel Brooks for the modern era.”

Winner of the NY Theater Festival’s Best Script and Best Actor awards (with both leads being nominated), Race follows a white chauffeur named Wyatt Saveyer who is tasked with driving around a brilliant black musician named Gene Yus on his concert tour through the 1850s deep south. The story quickly unravels to become a panoramic parody of all things tone-deaf Hollywood race movie (see Green Book, Hidden Figures, 12 Years A Slave, Django Unchained, & more).

See it before it gets there in a stripped-down form, with the original cast performing a staged table read at Stand Up NY comedy club.
