FAKE News VS. FUN News

If we're reading YOU correctly, you love free stuff too, so you've GOT to join us during the New York Comedy Festival at the iconic New York Public Library at 18 West 53rd St for a night of FREE laughs for “Laughter in the City” with our three-time Emmy winning headliner, “Cash Cab’s” Ben Bailey! We’re spreading "Fun News"and bring some sexy sense and sensibility back along with a book-load of FREE satire on November 9th! It’s first come, first served so grab a spot early in the stacks between the Mark Twain and “Yo Mama” literature that line the library shelves!

In these trying times “Fake News” has made us all realize the true cost of the “FREE” in our freedom. At NYLaughs, we feel that spreading “Fun News,” goodwill, and uproarious laughter provides an alternative celebration of that freedom at no charge! "Fun News" isn't divisive and like a good library book, it comes at no cost.

So New York, grab your favorite tote and join some of our favorite performers from “Laughter In the Park's” own storied history together at our boisterous book club lead by our headliner, Ben Bailey! While you're here, hit the reference section to research all the jokes you didn’t understand! There won't be a single librarian in the house that will shush you for laughing out loud! The only "Fake News" is that you have anything to lose- The News is fun, the comedy is free, so come check us out like a copy of ‘50 Shades of Grey!”

NYLAUGHS' BIO For 11 seasons, non-profit NYLaughs.org has been taking comedy to the people in the hot summer months by producing free live comedy events in New York’s beautiful public spaces via its signature series called “Laughter in the Park.” More than 300 artists have graced their grassy stages to help spread smiles, laughter and goodwill to city residents and visitors. NYLaughs aims to bring new audiences to comedy, deepen an appreciation of the art form of stand-up and provide live comedy to New Yorkers regardless of social strata. NYLaughs.org wants to build a happier, more connected NYC via laughter! Their shows have received critical acclaim by every major NY media outlet and they’ve won several cultural grants in support of their mission from the NYS Council on the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs via the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, as well as the Washington Square Park Conservancy and the Partnership for Parks. NYLaughs just won City Council funding, too. Additionally, NY politicians and local officials are now taking to their stage to make their stand-up debuts, as well. NYLaughs.org now hopes to bolster their visibility and expand the scope of their work by partnering with institutions such as the New York Public Library to produce performances during the Fall. Working with the New York Public Library is a tremendous endorsement of their vision. It's a great recognition of stand-up within the performing arts spectrum and a way to inspire a new generation of comedians and build a comedy following of new fans for years to come. The NYPL serves as the social space for a diverse array of New Yorkers We are working with the NYPL because NYLaughs envisions a better world and comedy serves to bring creativity to tackling community concerns. When you think about how badly America needs to learn and laugh right now, NYPL and NYLaughs is a no-brainer of a partnership.
